SARGO converge on Salcombe for Annual Event
The annual SARGO owner's gathering has been a highlight of the calendar for many years and in the past has include accompanied trips to the Channel Islands and West Country. This year, we departed Hamble Point Marina and headed west again with two nights in the stunning peace and tranquillity of Salcombe, followed by an overnight pit stop for refuelling (both boats and owners!) in Brixham on the way back.
The Cruise in Company is an ideal opportunity for our owners to make a trip to locations they may not have ventured to before and is a great way to build confidence and experience for those newer to boating and meet some of the other SARGO owners.
After an early start from Hamble Point Marina, a fleet of five SARGOs assembled in the Solent from their various home ports and began the trip down across Poole Bay heading west.
After a serene start, the weather became a little more challenging with poor visibility and a somewhat lively sea state, however nothing that the SARGO fleet could not handle!
As conditions cleared, the fleet picked up the pace and arrived in Salcombe early afternoon, meeting another two SARGO models that came from Exmouth and Plymouth respectively, to set up base on one of the stunning visitor pontoons in Salcombe.
After some refreshments on the pontoons, the group enjoyed a (mostly) quiet evening in Salcombe!
With the UK experiencing some of the best summer weather in many years, we had planned a BBQ at Inspiration Marine HQ (a conveniently located Airbnb in the centre of town) for Saturday night and we enjoyed an evening of great local food and drinks.
Come Sunday morning, some of the boats began to depart for their home ports or for the next leg of their trips, including the owners of Nomad (SARGO 36) who are working their way back up to Scotland over the next few months.
The remainder of the boats returning to the Solent broke up the journey home with an overnight stop in Brixham before arriving back in Hamble on Monday lunchtime.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the SARGO owners for coming along and making this this event such a success. We had a fantastic weekend catching up with you all. Hope to see you again next time!
